Our May Model of the Month is Terri Claire! Terri has participated in two runway shows and three photo shoots. Learn more about her below! [hr]
1. Aside from occasionally modeling for SmartGlamour – what do you do?
My young adult children are the light of my life as I see how compassionate and intelligent they are as they conduct themselves in this not always fair world. I’m also a “mom” to three dogs a 16 year old Bichon-Frise, a partially paralyzed 11 year old Bichon-Frise and a 7 year old rescued muttigree. For the past 28 years I have been teaching the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and I can finally say that I will be retiring August 2019! I am also a gym rat, a Crossfitter and a tattoo collector. I was blessed two years ago to meet a partner with as much artistic energy as I do who does not have a jealous bone in his body.
2. How did you get involved with the brand?
I have been dabbling in Alternative modeling for the past 6 years. I believe it was Lady Zombie who tagged me in a post about a SmartGlamour casting. As a 53 year old heavily tattooed fledgling model, I took a chance and went to the casting. Once I read that SmartGlamour is ALL INCLUSIVE, I was very eager to be part of the team. I had never walked on a runway before and I was very nervous, but thankfully, I made it!!!!
3. You’ve modeled for us multiple times – what makes you continue to come back?
(Takes a deep breath) EVERYTHING ABOUT SMARTGLAMOUR! From the babes, the clothing, the chance to walk and model fashion, and most of all, the woman behind it all, Mallorie Dunn. She is a absolute dynamo and works her tail off running her brand from design, to fabrication to making sure the models are the type of people that represent SmartGlamour’s morals.I don’t think ANYBODY does what SmartGlamour does (even those who claim to be all inclusive are generally not). I love that we respect all humans no matter what size, shape, age, ability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity the individual is. I have formed friendships and acquaintances that stretch outside of SmarGlamour too. 4. What does body positivity mean to you?
Body positivity is having no predetermined ideal of what makes a person beautiful. Everybody has the right to wear what they wish and feel good about themselves without shame, judgement or barriers.
5. If there is a message you could put across to women/femmes/non binary folks through your modeling photos – what would that be?
AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER! Be happy in your own skin and others will see and (hopefully) feel it.
6. What is your advice to people who would like to give modeling a try?
