Next up in our Model of the Month Series is Bethany Smith. We got so caught up in Holiday Sales that we forgot to post last month! So here is our slightly belated Model of the Month for November. Bethany has modeled for us in two collections, although it feels like more! Bethany is the embodiment of the word radiance. She is a wordsmith, a ray of sunshine, and an amazing SmartGlamour supporter. Learn more about her below!

1. Aside from occasionally modeling for SmartGlamour – what do you do?

I’m a freelance copywriter + event professional dedicated to helping my fellow creative geniuses to tell authentic + engaging brand stories.

2. How did you get involved with the brand?

I met a friend of Mallorie’s at a charity event I volunteered for – The Girls Write Now Awards ceremony. Mallorie featured me as her SG woman of the week, and shortly thereafter I helped her bring the #MeasureMeBeautiful campaign and event series to fruition. It’s been a love love relationship ever since.

3. You’ve modeled for us multiple times – what makes you continue to come back?

I come back to SmartGlamour because it’s real in a way that very few businesses and people are anymore. Mallorie has placed equality at the heart of her business. She lives that. There’s not a racist, ableist, sexist, or transphobic bone in her body. She puts her message into every stitch of clothing. And that outpouring of love is at every single shoot.

4. What does body positivity mean to you?

Body positivity is not, or should not be this radical stance. It is really just the message that there is no reason not to love yourself. There is no reason to deny yourself love or fashion or beauty or anything because of the numbers on a scale or piece of measuring tape. Your beauty comes from your principles and the confidence with which you live by them.

5. If there is a message you could put across to other women through your modeling photos – what would that be?

That I don’t need your permission to be a badass bundle of brown skinned beauty. I don’t want it. My beauty doesn’t need permission. Neither does yours.

6.  What is your advice to other women who would like to give modeling a try?
